We saw MGMT at the Echo last night. The band’s riffs rocked me infinitely harder than at their last LA show with Of Montreal. The band was nice enough to perform the original “Karaoke” version of Kids off their EP claiming that they hadn’t done so since 2005.
I’ve totally enlisted in the MGMT army. I haven’t gotten all worked up about a band in years but MGMT has me drinking their kool-aid.
This short video is ridiculously inspirational. In fact, it is so inspirational I’m going to tag it as awesome and share it with you.
This video explores the changes in the way we find, store, create, critique, and share information. This video was created as a conversation starter, and works especially well when brainstorming with people about the near future and the skills needed in order to harness, evaluate, and create information effectively.
If it looks familiar its the same guy who did that other Web 2.0 video.
Justice on Kimmel. This is incredible.
UPDATE: I’ve watched it 3 times!
The cool kids are talking about the following:
Juno Trailer - This movie stars Michael Cera and Jason Bateman. Normally I would crap all over it as Eagle Vs. Little Miss Dynamite style bullshit but I read the script last year and thought it was funny/charming. More info + trailer at Slashfilm.com
Hotel Chevalier - The short film/prequel that was supposed to accompany Wes Anderson’s new movie.
Gondry Motorola Commercial - His body of work is too genius to get to worked up by his recent tendencies to just rip himself off.
Jennifer FussBucket pointed me to this awesome Current.tv spot about the making of Transformers 2.
This brilliant anthropomorphism is kicking around the internet right now. I recommend you watch the embed over clicking through to the youtube page as whoever uploaded the video titled it with a spoiler.
Since these HP ads premiered, I’ve found myself moderately intrigued by them because they tend to use people at the top of their game in their respective industry, and just because they are kinda cool. Pharell and Jay-Z were in the first run and while Pharell isn’t really at the top of anyone’s list of anything (other than maybe the biggest skater poser ever…), Jay-Z is kind of that dude when it comes to hip hop power hitters.
To follow suit, HP enlisted Michel Gondry, whose films kind of speak for how awesome he is, and if they are not enough for you, I can safely say he’s probably the only dude I would willfully allow to impregnate me with his creativity and next of kin…well, him and pete wentz…anyway, here’s the ad…
