Check out this masterfully crafted amateur nature documentary. “Syindy2″ has a number of supurbly narrated news reports on a variety of local topics. Is he trying to break into the news business? Or is he an early retiree simply intrigued by citizen’s journalism? You decide.
Unless you’re a deaf-mute that’s been living under several large sized boulders without any access to a computer, phone, radio, or calculator, you’ve probably noticed the influx of blog-house music thats been permeating the interweb over the last two years. The record company at the forefront of this movement is Ed Banger Records who represents blog superstars Justice, Uffie, Feadz, Mr. Oizo, Dj Mehdi, and Sebastian to name a few.
The record company recently released their newest compilation entitled Ed Rec Vol. 2 (with a little internet sleuthing you can score this gem for your own pleasures), and along with the release they’ve put out two videos, directed by Toma Zino, that are some of the most awesome promotional tapes I’ve come across.
and the extended party version.
and as an added bonus, check out the promotional video for Dj Mehdi’s “I am Somebody” directed by Ed Banger labelmate So-Me
For those of you who went to film school, I’m sure you’re familar with Chris Marker’s La Jetee. I had to write a paper on La Jetee in my very first film class. I tried desperately to find it on the web so I could avoid going to the library to watch the copy they had on reserve. In the end, I didn’t bother watching it again and just wrote the paper based on memory and whatever reviews and essays a Google search brought up.
Four years later the classic experimental film that inspired Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys is on Google video!
I was cruising pop urls and saw this “Hilarious - How the Writers of the TV Show ‘Lost’ Get their Ideas” video. I first said OMG out loud then clicked.
This reminded my girlfriend, Jen, of the American Apparel “how they come up with porno advertising” video. Jen says “its like, the Office, mixed with like American corporate shit. It’s like brilliant.”
Ehhh..if you watched those last two videos you don’t really need to watch this one. It’s like the last two but 11 minutes longs, stars Andy Dick, and is hosted on iFilm.
The most interesting part about this hilarious Cliff Roth remix from 1988, is the ridiculously dated disclaimer at the end. It states that “this edited version of an actual televised address to the American people was created as a work of art intended for entertainment purposes.” Less than 20 years ago such video editing was novel enough that somebody would seriously believe Nancy Reagan went on TV to tell kids that “the cocaine makes me happy.”
The description for this Simian Mobile Disco video was in French; something about being Jas Show who is a producer that worked with the Artic Monkeys. “It’s the beat” is the first single, featuring NINJA, the singer of the Go Team. Album is due out June 9th.
The art direction is very impressive. The color bomb in the middle is my favorite part.
