VIDEO WATCH: Spank Rock’s obnoxious Rick Rubin single
This is the video for Spank Rock’s homage to uber producer Rick Rubin. When I first heard Spank Rock’s song “Bump,” I couldn’t get the infections beat and nasty lyrics out of my mind. Usually, no matter how bumping, hip hop music turns me off with its over the top vulgarity and obnoxious lyrics. Nevertheless, I had flirted with the genre previously liking hipster rappers like Dizzee Rascal but never really committing. Was Spank Rock it?! Had I finally found a rapper would take me to the party?
Both the song and video “Rick Rubin” sucks. And what about that Lindsey Lohan song!? It looks like Spank Rock isn’t going to be the rapper that breaks down my wall. Nevertheless, I think this video is interesting because of all the found 80’s footage and effects. For so long everybody was obsessed with the “aged film” look. This is the “aged video” look I guess.
